Our Mission

At Zero, we are changing the paradigm of how homeowners plan and purchase energy upgrades for their homes. We are streamlining today’s time-intensive and often frustrating process with a self-serve interface that delivers actionable intelligence to homeowners so they can get their projects done without all the hassle.

It’s never been more important to help homeowners understand the health of their home, how it impacts the planet, and to make it easier for them to take action. With Zero, homeowners experience a quick, no pressure, and even delightful experience purchasing upgrades for their home. And by partnering with a trusted network of Trade Partners, Zero helps to facilitate installations for heat pumps, solar panels, and electrical upgrades giving homeowners a single point of contact through their project.

Who we are

Zero is on a mission to electrify the world’s homes for healthy and sustainable living. We believe everyone has the right to a healthy home. We’re solving the world’s hardest problem, climate change, and we’re looking to grow our team with similarly minded, passionate change-makers who want to dramatically impact and improve millions of people’s lives.

Born out of previous experience running a general contracting business and designing small satellites at NASA, Zero is building the toolkit to digitally assess homes and automate the design of all-electric home energy upgrades. We are building a simple experience for homeowners to enable them to plan, purchase, and schedule installations with local, certified contractors within minutes.

Zero is based in Denver, CO, venture-backed, partnered with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), and has substantial early traction. Learn more at zerohomes.io

Who you are

You combine strong project management skills with exceptional writing ability with demonstrated technical grant and proposal writing success. You take initiative and think creatively about how to source relevant information. You have experience or a strong interest in climate change mitigation, electrification, building science, or related industries. You’re organized, able to manage multiple projects at once, and you’re adaptable - ready to pivot to new projects at short notice. You’re passionate about climate change and want to be part of a team making a tangible impact in improving people’s lives and saving the planet!

What you’ll do

Zero Homes is looking for a Grant and Proposal Manager to source, prioritize, draft, manage, and finalize all grants, proposals, contracts, RFPs etc. to create funding and long-term program opportunities for the company.

The Grant and Proposal Manager will be responsible for: sourcing residential electrification-related requests for proposals (RFP) across Zero’s target technical areas and geographies, as well as residential electrification-related grant opportunities at the local, state, and federal levels; with the CEO’s support, prioritizing all relevant opportunities and developing a strategy for applying; project managing the grant, proposal, and solicitation response processes from start to finish, including managing against deadlines; compiling relevant information from various departments; coordinating with external partners as appropriate; and drafting and submitting the responses.

This is a highly cross-functional role that will report directly to the CEO. You will get the opportunity to collaborate with external partners and key industry players and become an expert in residential electrification in the process.

Though this role is scoped as a contractor position, we hope to convert this role to a full-time position. Evaluation will be conducted after the first two major proposal applications are completed (ideally within 3 months). Open to candidates not located in Denver, CO, but would require relocation if converted to full-time hire.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience responding to opportunities (RFPs, grants, and solicitations)

  • A strategic thinker – able to break down and simplify complex processes
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player that brings a positive can-do attitude

Nice to have

  • Focus or experience on climate change-related grants
  • Familiarity with government funding

Compensation

  • $70-$100K depending on experience, plus commission
  • Work hour expectations: 30 - 40 hours / week
