Overview

The Application Tester & Analyst coordinates, performs, and documents application testing for VEIC’s DAST-IT team. Works with stakeholders to understand, capture, analyze, and document testing requirements within VEIC’s tracking system. Assists in communication efforts throughout the testing and release phases for VEIC developed applications. Coordinates and/or executes customer and user acceptance of application releases. Assists with other software development lifecycle tasks as needed. Contributes to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.

 

Location:

This is a remote position, and the ideal candidate will be located in the states where VEIC conducts business: CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MT, NJ, NY, PA, OH, RI, VA, VT, AND WI.

 

Compensation:

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $85,000-$95,000 annually. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. The total compensation package for this position also includes a full range of medical benefits, 403(b) eligibility with match, Combined Time Off (CTO), Care and Concern leave, Parental leave, wellbeing benefit, a community service day, and eight paid holidays that are effective as of your first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Works with stakeholders to identify and document testing requirements during both the course of normal business operations and during VEIC application development projects.
  • Coordinates and performs testing efforts on current and future VEIC applications.
  • Documents test results and effectively communicate test failures to developers.
  • Works with stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported issues and routing appropriately to developers and/or Product Owners.
  • Assists in the development of functional and technical requirements for software applications and systems. Ensures clear documentation of said requirements and any pertinent, relevant details are captured.
  • Assist with analyzing VEIC’s developed software specifications, current business practices, and system functionality to develop, maintain, and document standard testing plans and test cases.
  • Assists in the execution of testing plans and test cases, coordinating DATSIT and non-DATSIT staff testing efforts. Coordinates appropriate communications with stakeholders.
  • Provides routine support for software issues and requests.
  • Documents relevant outcomes/system functionality for use by the development team.
  • Assist in the development of relevant training curricula.
  • Provides support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to VEIC’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years working in a software development environment with experience in application testing or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.
  • Experience documenting software testing requirements and implementing formal test plans is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in desktop business software, including MS Office Products.
  • Proven track record of using exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, active listening skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, relationship management, and assertiveness skills in addressing customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized and composed while managing multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to learn and apply principles of application architecture, principles of database design, business process modeling skills, and understanding of software development lifecycles to build repeatable business processes for IT’s Program Support team.
  • Familiarity with and interest in continuing education for software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.
