Full time role
In-person · England, GB... more
We are very excited to be building a small and efficient TechOps team at Octopus. We are looking for an ambitious, knowledgeable and experienced Audio Visual Specialist to join our team, to grow with the rest of the company, and ensure we are doing so in a secure and safe way.

As our Audio Visual TechOps Specialist, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimising our AV infrastructure and systems across Octopus. Your role will involve ensuring the smooth and secure operation of our AV hardware, our All Hands equipment and our SaaS tooling across the business.

We have lots of offices around the world that are in need of some focus and attention to improve the employee experience in them. We also have many new offices that are on the horizon across the UK and Europe that you will be looking after from a provisioning and fit-out perspective.

You will be a key partner in defining what TechOps is at Octopus. We will be shaping this team to provide a world class support service to our employees, building our way out of problems with engineering firepower and undertaking transformational organisational change.

What is TechOps?
A more modern, more lean version of a traditional enterprise IT team. We cover everything from what most people would call “1st line support” all the way up to high-level strategic planning, and everything in between.

We tackle big problems and the breadth of work is huge. Dealing with ambiguity is a key part of working in TechOps, and every day will be a new and exciting one, working on varying challenges across the company.

We have a cloud-first approach to everything we do. This allows us to scale quickly and focus on things where we can add the most value. No on-prem AD here!

Roles that you might currently be in: AV Commissioning Engineer, Live Event Technician, Audio Visual Consultant

What you'll do

  • Set up, host and support large internal and external events, primarily in our London office, but also in any other office that might need ad-hoc support.
  • Collaborate with office management, office fit-out project teams and the wider TechOps team to understand AV system designs and requirements.
  • Travel around the country, and even Europe, to conduct on-site testing and commissioning of AV systems, ensuring all components function as intended.
  • Configure, program and document AV equipment, including displays, projectors, audio processors, and control systems.
  • Integrate AV control systems, ensuring seamless operation of user interfaces and touch panels.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AV technology and updates, working alongside our existing AV partners.
  • Find opportunities to improve existing systems and provide users with self-service solutions.

What you'll need

  • Experience in managing and maintaining AV solutions including Logitech Conferencing Room Solutions, Q-SYS control systems, Sony Bravia Professional displays, Google Meet, Zoom, Envoy and many others.
  • Experience with network-based AV protocols like HD-baseT, NDI and Dante.
  • Experience monitoring AV performance, identifying issues, and implementing fixes.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable with the pressure of running large internal and external events, with the technical and human support necessary.
  • Ability to do the physical work, as well as the design, for our AV installations and improvements. You need to be confident crawling around under desks and making cabling nice and tidy!
  • You have deep knowledge of AV design, implementation and installation processes.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence to be able to travel easily to our offices, sometimes with shiny AV kit in the back!

  • Don’t think you check off all of the above? We love hiring passionate people with a drive to learn so get in touch and let us know which areas you don’t currently have confidence and/or experience with, we’d love to hear from you!
