Interested in working with a groundbreaking company that’s focused on decarbonizing the atmosphere? CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With a patented modular open systems architecture, our DAC platform allows for plug-and-play upgrades, mass production, unlimited scalability, and rapid technology iterations.

Public funding is crucial to our business. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to manage current and future funding programs with federal and state governments, including grants, loans, and 45Q requirements. CarbonCapture is the prime on a TA-2 DAC Hubs grant in Wyoming and participates in other DOE-funded ventures, including the CDR Pilot Purchase Prize. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing awarded programs, preparing applications and proposals for future funding, and working with the Director of External Affairs to manage commercial buyer contracts and MRV program submissions. You will also help craft strategies and policies to grow the DAC market.

Responsibilites

  • Project manage our grants in close collaboration with all CCI functional areas and research partners.
  • Execute deliverables related to the business side of the DAC hubs, including business plan, financial plan, MRV, and sub-awardee collaboration.
  • Build relationships with government agencies (e.g., DOE, ARPA-E, DIU), national labs, universities, and research institutions.
  • Take primary responsibility for grant writing for both government grants and large off-take sales; coordinate submissions from all internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic plan identifying relevant funding opportunities for DAC and clean energy (grants and loans); respond to Notices of Intent.
  • Manage life cycle analyses (LCA) for DAC Hubs, CDR Purchase Prize, and submissions for 45Q tax credits.
  • Oversee standards setting, including MRV, standards, registries, the CDR Purchase Prize, and commercial buyers.
  • Support the policy team in crafting and advocating for future government policy.
  • Manage communications, quarterly accounts, and contracts with other large buyers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business; master’s preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to bridge project management, government relations, and technical communication.
  • Experience planning and leading complex, long-term projects.
  • Experience managing program budgets.
  • Experience with obtaining and managing grants, loans, or other government projects (preferably with the DOE, Treasury/IRS, ARPA-E, Wyoming Energy Authority, and California Energy Commission).
  • Strong writing proficiency.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and collaborative environment.
  • Commitment and passion for solving climate change.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Desired Background

  • Experience in government grant distribution.
  • Familiarity with multiple work environments (e.g., academia, government, small startups, larger private companies).
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
