Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Manager to grow, develop, and lead our Commercial Finance team. This role reports to the Director of Finance.

As a critical member of the finance leadership team, your role will shape our partnership with the commercial and project engineering team to develop our sales pipeline, negotiate deal terms, and execute on contracted projects. You will provide detailed project-level economics modeling and other forms of financial due diligence, in order to inform commercial negotiations and ensure that each agreement is well-structured to meet Form’s financial targets and customer needs.

The mandate of the commercial finance function at Form is to accelerate the adoption of Multi-Day Storage domestically and abroad, and thereby accelerate the progress toward full decarbonization of our energy grid. As a leader of the team, you will have the opportunity to directly advance this critical transition and play a key role in developing new business models at Form.

Success in this role requires a deep commitment to the mission, experience in renewable project deployment and / or knowledge of the US utility landscape, bias toward details & extreme ownership, and strong team-building & communication skills.

What you'll do:

  • Optimize Multi-Day Storage project economics: Build financial models that accurately depict the forecasted cash flow impact of Form Multi-Day Storage assets in a variety of applications and in different energy portfolios. Models need to also accurately account for respective revenue streams based on milestones, tax credit generation, funding sources (ex. grants), deployment costs, warranty costs, and operating & maintenance costs. Lastly, the models should accurately project the economics that result for each party (Form Energy, EPC firm, developer, end-customer) across different bespoke project finance structures.

  • Partner with Commercial & Analytics team: Partner closely with Form leaders (SVP of Commercial Leadership, Director of Analytics) to develop a clear pricing plan of record for hardware sales and O&M (operating & maintenance programs) that maximizes willingness to pay in the market. Work closely with key commercial & analytics partners on driving key deals through completion and help translate results from Formware (our proprietary grid modeling platform) into tangible financial outcomes (ex. savings) for customers.

  • Develop new business models & revenue streams: Partner closely with Form’s Product Management team to develop and execute on new business models and new market entry strategies. You will be responsible for developing detailed financial forecasts and due diligence to inform pricing decisions and Multi-Day Storage supply allocation strategies.

  • Maximize tax credits & federal funding opportunities: Partner closely with the Policy & Legal team at Form to closely track government guidance, in order to accurately model the full impact of tax credits (ex. 45X, 48D) to Form and our customers. Additionally, work closely with policy partners to pursue non-dilutive funding opportunities from DOE & state agencies to support project

What you'll bring:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Finance (preferably with exposure to utility sector and/or renewable project development), and some experience in managing people

  • Excellent analytics & Excel modeling skills; deep experience in building project-level financial models

  • Demonstrated skill in partnering with internal & external stakeholders to execute on cross-functional workstreams

  • Relentless drive to educate markets around the value and reliability of Form long-duration storage, and creativity in narrowing the green premium for Form
