Senior Manufacturing Engineer

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in the design, manufacturing, and successful deployment of Dandelion Energy’s technology with key contributions to manufacturing and quality requirements and specifications, as well as taking a leading role in the new product introduction and on-going manufacturing with our manufacturing partners.  Because this role will make contributions both at the beginning (design for manufacturing specifications) and significant contributions in the manufacturing phase of the product development life cycle, this person will be key to ensuring unit quality, low costs and delivering products in a timely manner.  Specific responsibilities:

  • Lead New Product Introduction with our manufacturing partners at the part sourcing thru final assembly and field support.  The responsibilities start at the initial engineering requirements and specifications through pilot builds to deployment. 
  • The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Dandelion engineers(mechanical, electrical, firmware and system), low cost sources, contract manufacturing engineers and program management to shepherd new products into manufacturing thru delivery to warehouse.  
  • Design and practical, hands-on experience with the following manufacturing processes and technology:  Sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, cable assemblies, PCBA processes, labels and overlays, brazing, leak detection, functional manufacturing testing and test equipment, refrigerant technology, traceability, and packaging for shipment.  
  • On going Cost Reductions.  The role will be responsible for reducing costs in the following areas: low cost part and sub-assembly sourcing, manufacturing process, labor and material optimization for the purpose of meeting cost goals across the product lines. 
  •  Mechanical Engineering Design.  Experience with mechanical design principles. 
  • Quality : Responsible for defining the requirements and metrics with our partners in the following areas:  SPC techniques,  Root causing, Corrective Actions, Acceptance Testing, Functional Test and other Manufacturing Testing such as leak testing.      

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • ~5-8 years work experience(design and manufacturing); 3 years of experience with CAD Applications (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience originating acceptance test plans and process development exercises. 
  • Experience with electronics lab and custom manufacturing test equipment
  • Exposure to HVAC principles, hands-on experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with the following processes and tools: PDM-ECO applications (Arena Preferred), CAD (Solidworks preferred), PCB Design (Altium preferred). 
  • Experience with SPC, root cause analysis, and design for manufacturing principles.  
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  Slack, Google Suite. 

 

Bonus Points:

  • Knowledge in thermodynamic and heat transfer principles
  • Familiarity with wireless communications protocols, e.g. 802.11ac/ax (Wi-Fi) as related to manufacturing
  • Project planning skills.
