ROLE TITLE: HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY ENGINEER


REPORTING LINE: The HV Battery Engineer will report in to the Director of Technical Operations for Energy Solutions. 


DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW:

Energy Solutions is a sub-systems solutions arm of Artemis Technologies, responsible for the delivery of Marine Lithium-Ion battery and High-Power Charging systems. The group is growing its presence within the business and building on the technology modules developed in our vessel programmes, furthering development for the wider marine market.


THE ROLE:

Responsible for the design and development of ATL in-house propulsion battery systems including vessel integration. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for the battery concept to start of production (SoP),
  • Understanding & gathering of customer and regulatory design requirements,
  • Defining and scoping battery Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) work packages,
  • Defining Design Validation Plans (DVP) for battery testing,
  • Support BMS hardware selection and software development,
  • Specification of battery components & hardware,
  • Leading vessel integration design,
  • Lead on battery fault finding & diagnosis,
  • Support the boat development programs where required.
  • Ensure that the systems meet all appropriate regulations.
  • Introduce new electronics technology to ATL where appropriate.
  • Attend team and 1-1 meetings and fulfil reporting requirements as required by Artemis Technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with Artemis Technologies Policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Handbook.
  • Build good working relationships across Artemis Technologies.
  • Contribute to shaping a culture that reflects Artemis Technologies Values and Guiding Principles and enables the company to achieve its goals.


PERSON SPECIFICATION:


Education/Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Holder of Bachelor (BSc /BEng) degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering),
  • 3+ years working as a HV Battery Engineer position.


Key Skills Required:

Technical/Design skills:

  • Ability to design HV (400 to 800 V) traction batteries,
  • Understand & meet customer & regulatory design requirements,
  • Able to investigate and diagnose electrical hardware failures, 
  • Practical, hands-on approach to power system integration,
  • Able to liaise with 3rd party contractors & test houses.


Communication skills:

  • Good report writing skills – clear, concise, and well structured.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.



Organising skills: 

  • Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues.
  • A focus on ‘delivery’ to an agreed schedule.


Teamworking: 

  • Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
