About this opportunity

The primary purpose is to execute the mechanical maintenance function at Pact Altona, as directed by the Plant Engineer.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Safety and Quality:

  • Engage in relevant WHS campaigns that actively drive a culture of behavioural safety and preventative safety measures and activities.  
  • Maintain quality standards and controls to manufacture and produce packaging solutions that meet customer expectations and requirements
  • Ensure that work is carried out in a safe working manner (LOTO) and maintaining safe working environments.
  • Immediately report instances of near misses or incidents.

Reliability:

  • Complete scheduled tasks and mechanical breakdown tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Work independently at times but also as part of a team to achieve the best outcome for the business
  • Scope, complete, record and close out work using MEX Works Orders
  • Support the production team
  • Liaise with Electrical Trades where required
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects to achieve improved Safety, Productivity, Quality & Reliability
  • Maintain spare parts inventory as required.

  • Problem solving with a cost-effective solution that maximises production uptime
  • Prioritising safety above all else

Key Deliverables / Business Outcomes:

  • Improve machine availability by working with the Maintenance supervisor on Preventative Maintenance programs
  • Efficient use of human resources, ie logged vs available hours are maximised
  • Continuous improvement in machinery safety and safe working practices

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Prior experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of “good practice” preventative maintenance strategies
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatics experience
  • Trades qualified Fitter or equivalent
