About this opportunity

As a member of the Site Management Team, the position is expected to provide a connection between the Site and Group level activities and will require championing and monitoring implementation of the Group WHSE System (Policy, Procedures and tools), including communicating with Site Management and conducting inspections and audits.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Promote and champion a safety-first culture across the Site, by providing expert advice, support and driving implementation of the Group WHSE system. This entails advice to the Divisional and Site Management teams.
  • Provide oversight and management of significant incidents including early intervention, liaison with legal teams, Site Managers, and Pact Group Management, to ensure a positive resolution. 
  • Support with the development and coordination of strategies and continuous improvements to the Group WHSE system.
  • Monitor, interpret and champion changes to the regulatory environment, including legislation, authority directions, regulations and standards. Communicate, recommend and effectively implement any potential changes into the Group system in consultation with the WHSE Team.
  • Conduct system audits in line with the Group Audit Plan, to ensure consistent implementation and application of the Group system, and support Sites with completion of subsequent action plans.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice, Standards, and associated obligation.
  • Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation;
  • Previous experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation, and a demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence outcomes

Desirable:

  • Current Lead Auditor training
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology
  • Previous work experience in a large, multinational, or listed company would be preferred
