The Role 

We are looking for a diligent and highly motivated Sr. Tax Accountant to join the growing Cypress tax department. This position will be primarily focusing on meeting the Company’s tax compliance and reporting needs, specifically in the direct tax area. The ideal candidate is a team player who has experience in tax return preparation, tax provision, solid understanding of common tax rules and regulations, and knowledgeable in accounting principles.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the master tax filing tracker, the correspondence tracker and the payment tracker
  • Maintain Company’s organizational chart
  • Assist with coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of the Company’s federal, state and local income tax returns, including reviewing the workpapers prepared by the external service providers
  • Manage Fixed Assets with Sage Fixed Assets
  • Prepare CA SMLLC returns and business licenses renewal filing
  • Assist in preparing quarterly partnership taxable income projection
  • Assist with tax research projects and preparing memos
  • Assist in the resolution of federal, state and local tax notices and audits
  • Identify process improvements for various tax processes, implement changes for best practices
  • Perform other duties as requested by the management

  

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • BS in Accounting or Tax (or related major)
  • CPA license preferred, Sage FAS experience preferred
  • 3 plus years of tax experience including the above duties
  • Must be detail oriented, resourceful and organized
  • Ability to multi-task and work in tight frames and deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal abilities and a team player. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, flexible.
  • Must ask appropriate questions when faced with difficulties
  • Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimum supervision 

 

Locations: Our ideal candidate would preferably be based in Santa Monica, CA, but open to remote depending on experience

 

Compensation:  The salary range for the position is $80K - 110K  plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
