ABOUT THE COALITION

The Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns critical stakeholders on a path to transform the nation’s buildings through clean energy, using policy, research, market development and public engagement. The BDC and its members are charting the course to eliminate fossil fuels in buildings to improve people’s health, cut climate and air pollution, prioritize high-road jobs, and ensure that our communities are more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Through coalition-building, consumer inspiration, and policy analysis, the BDC is pursuing fast, fair action to accelerate the adoption of heat pumps and other building electrification products and services, which will help states cut one of their largest sources of pollution while creating safe, healthy, and affordable communities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Innovative climate solutions are stronger and faster to implement when more voices and interests are involved in creating and realizing them. BDC seeks to include in its coalition a critical mass of companies and organizations with a firm commitment to realizing a multi-beneficial transition to zero-emission buildings.

BDC staff undertake a range of collaborations alongside coalition partners. These projects support well-designed electrification policies and regulations, promote individual electrification products as well as heat pump and induction cooking technology, and facilitate dialogue between decision makers in the public and private sectors regarding how to durably expand the electrification marketplace in a way that aligns with both state climate commitments and consumer expectations.

BDC is seeking a Director of Partnerships to oversee the organization’s relationships and collaborations with national stakeholders, including large manufacturers, midstream market actors like wholesalers and retailers, installers, real estate industry stakeholders, promoters of induction cooking, and a variety of emerging market actors. This individual will oversee a team of six highly effective and motivated staff members with diverse personal and professional backgrounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Director of Partnerships will oversee and direct BDC’s Partnerships Team, including responsibility for the following work streams:

  • Overseeing BDC’s relationships with established and emerging manufacturers of HVAC and water heating equipment, home appliances, and construction products alongside dedicated staff, with an eye toward securing the enthusiastic participation of these Coalition partners in a range of BDC initiatives.
  • Overseeing the development of BDC’s workforce engagement initiative, including by ensuring that this important work stream is properly resourced, carefully designed, and efficiently implemented, and that collaboration with other BDC teams for whom workforce issues are strategically significant is generative, pragmatic, and streamlined.
  • Supervising BDC’s membership program alongside dedicated staff and ensuring that the program’s structure and processes are frictionless and offer real value to Coalition partners.
  • Overseeing the integration of key Coalition partners, especially manufacturers, into BDC’s promotional events and programs, ensuring that a range of products are represented in the Coalition’s promotions, working with state advocacy staff to identify opportunities to leverage promotional activities in support of critical policy priorities, and securing sponsorship arrangements where appropriate.
  • Overseeing the expansion of BDC’s robust program of engagement and collaboration with major manufacturers of residential and commercial kitchen products, promoting the superior performance and convenience of all-electric cooking equipment through events, demonstrations, training, and educational resources.
  • Supporting BDC’s administration of the California Heat Pump Partnership (HPP) alongside the HPP Director, using this experience to identify and pursue opportunities to undertake similar public/private partnerships in BDC’s other target states.
  • Supporting BDC’s development team by contributing to grant proposals and, where appropriate, securing private sector funding for BDC activities that provide substantial and direct value to Coalition partners.
