Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is an integral part of our engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components. Building upon foundational engineering principles, your role will involve advanced tasks and responsibilities to support our projects and initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into our products and platforms.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the electrical architectures, system requirements and designs of the Autonomous Drive kits (ADK)
  • Responsible for development, troubleshooting and production release of all relevant electrical engineering deliverables 
  • Evaluating computes, including Electrical Characterization and reporting the outputs for analysis
  • Leading and participating in internal technical review activities including risk analysis, DFMEA and test driven development.
  • Collaborate and Participate in Architecture, quality, safety, project, production, peer, cross-functional,... reviews and ensure that all electrical engineering deliverables are met.
  • Working to source components and identifying suppliers to meet the system design requirements.
  • Evaluating and implementing proper electrical interfaces for sensors, actuators, and electrical and compute hardware 
  • Experience with working on Hybrid and EV vehicle power systems while following safe work procedures.
  • Responsible for System Level Design of electrical systems for self-driving vehicles related to vehicle drive-by-wire, sensor integration, and rider-facing features 
  • Designing and implementing prototypes of complex parts of the full vehicle system 
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts, research, recommendations and implementation of enhancements to tools, products, processes in Electrical Lab and vehicles.
  • Ensuring all necessary engineering documentation and data is generated and maintained to ensure traceability and compliance to applicable company procedures and industry standards  and regulations
  • Responsible for electrical requirements and their verification at the component and bench level testing
  • Performing complex work assignments requiring independent problem solving and decision making, requiring strong electrical technical competency
  • Providing technical team mentorship while following Industry best practices
  • Following safe work procedures; Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Use of workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Reporting workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible.
  • Performing other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.

Skills and Abilities

Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:

  • Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Electrical architecture knowledge 
  • 12V, 48V Electrical systems Debugging & Hands on experience 
  • Familiarity with ISO26262 standards 
  • Excellent communication, documentation
  • Proficiency in electrical design and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems 
  • Able to Understand electrical schematic and electrical harness design including the use of various software tools 
  • Systems-level thinking and ability to create architecture diagrams to meet system requirements 
  • Aptitude for identifying problems, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required

  • At least 5 years of experience in vehicle engineering leadership for hardware products, which includes launching a vehicle
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering, Autonomous Driving, or Robotics. 
  • Experience in Autonomous Vehicles, Machine Learning, Robotics, and/or in-vehicle cabin monitoring
  • Experience with User Experience and leveraging Design Thinking principles in the product development process
  • Knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance  
  • Experience working in a startup

Travel required? -  Minimal: 1%-10%

Salary Range
$115,000$135,000 USD
