What you’ll be doing

Dishwashers are responsible for the smooth running of the deli by ensuring that dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are clean and ready for use and disposing of deli waste products.  

Dishwashers report the Production Department Managers.  


Location & Commitments

  • Forest Store, 1220 Forest St, Bellingham, WA
  • Full-time, Non-Exempt
  • Starting pay is $17.30/hr (range is $17.30-$20.70)
  • Hours and days vary, morning, evening, and weekend shifts will be assigned
  • Schedules are posted at least 2 weeks in advance


What you’ll be responsible for 

  • Keep dish area clean and organized
  • Thoroughly washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils 
  • Puts dishes, pots, pans, utensils away in appropriate places
  • Take out trash and recycling
  • Remove trash and bus tubs from the front of the house
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of recycling area in the parking lot and dish pit area
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors including the walk-in
  • Participate in cleaning projects as needed
  • Assists in putting away orders, as instructed
  • Take directives from others in regards to prioritizing tasks based on immediate needs of kitchen
  • Communicate to co-workers when leaving, returning from a break. 
  • Communicate concerns and ideas to manager 
  • Communicate with co-workers and offers assistance, when needed
  • Ensure department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
  • Performing other duties in front and back of house as needed and assigned

Requirements

 

What skills are needed 

  • Ability to provide friendly face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn about deli products and interest and ability to gain knowledge of natural and organic grocery industry 
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential
  • Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends 
  • Ability to maintain current food handler card
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 


Physical requirements (with or without accommodation) 

  • Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: paging, telephones, human voices, music, and machinery. 
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
  • Continuous fine motors skills work and gripping with hands
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. frequently
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to learn to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job - dishwasher
  • Ability to climb ladders occasionally
