About this opportunity

The role of the QSE Manager is to provide a connection between the Site and Group level activities to champion and monitor the implementation of the Group WHSE System Policy, Procedures and tools, inspections, and audits. The position will also be responsible for providing oversight of critical incidents and supporting the Site with incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action closure for Quality, Safety and Environmental incidents.

In addition, monitoring and driving activities with external and/or regulatory bodies (such as WorkSafe, ISO, etc) and providing recommendations of continuous improvement for the Group WHSE and Quality Systems.   

A key focus of the QSE Manager is to ensure systems and processes are in place that focus on risk management and risk mitigation for Quality, Safety, and Environmental areas and supply customer liaisons and contact for customers regarding quality.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Coordinate all Health & Safety related site audits including audit preparation and ensure any areas identified during audits are actioned.
  • Prioritise enhancement of Health, Safety, Environment, Wellbeing - To ensure Pact Packaging – Christchurch, maintains a culture of mindsets and behaviours that ensure the safety of all staff all the time.
  • Ensure the relevant standards for external and internal requirements are met, reviewed and updated.
  • Administer the Business Unit’s quality procedures, ensuring regular review and update in line with agreed Site protocols.
  • Ensure quality standards and systems are understood by employees to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders and Managers to provide ongoing administration, maintenance and develop process documentation and SOP’s to support safety, process control and improvement.

Your skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • 5 years' experience in like/similar field ideally in quality with health & safety exposure.
  • HACCP Experience
  • Understanding and experience with Safety management and quality management system.
  • Understanding of NZ legal systems, regulatory processes and relevant legislation
  • Strong hazard identification risk management and incident investigation.
  • Proven experience leading a team in a compassionate people-focused manner.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams and other stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to a variety of people including customers.
