CET is looking for a skilled and capable individual to join our team as a Residential Energy Quality Control Inspector! In this exciting career opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, you will work with homeowners to identify and inspect weatherization opportunities for previously under-served communities in New Haven and Fairfield Counties in CT.


For nearly 50 years, CET has helped people and businesses save energy and reduce waste. We partner with city and state agencies, utilities, homeowners, and business owners across the U.S. to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy. With the passage of state and federal climate policy, utility programs are rapidly evolving to align with carbon reduction goals. Inspectors and auditors are critical catalysts in getting energy measures implemented. This is an exciting time to work as a Residential Energy Quality Control Inspector!


This is a perfect opportunity to break into the energy efficiency field. We will provide you with on-the-job training to:


  • Conduct inspections of newly installed weatherization work, verifying compliance with program specifications and safety standards.
  • Confirm that newly installed work was completed in accordance with proper building science principles and quality installation methods.
  • Conduct energy audits of existing homes.
  • Conduct combustion safety and other diagnostic tests.
  • Use software to quantify savings and produce reports documenting recommendations, including building electrification opportunities
  • Analyze usage data


You’re a great fit for this exciting role in energy-efficiency if you can:


  • Provide excellent customer service during and after the audit. In particular: listening to customers to understand their needs and motivations; clearly and intelligently answering customer questions as relate to energy efficiency and electrification; effectively communicating recommended energy saving measures; following up with customers as needed.
  • Ensure that recommendations comply with program requirements for incentives and rebates.
  • Accurately enter audit data into appropriate databases and complete documentation and reports in a timely manner.


As a Residential Energy Quality Control Inspector, you can make a tangible difference in mitigating the effects of climate change. You're an ideal fit if you have:


  • 1 year of experience working in energy efficiency preferred.
  • BPI HEP Energy Auditor and BPI QCI Certifications are preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Energy Specialist, Home Energy Auditor, or Energy Technician Auditor.
  • Solid math skills with a strong understanding of geometry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to learn various utility program offerings and analyze usage patterns.
  • Ability to learn and perform a variety of diagnostic tests. 
  • Ability to work independently and spend most of the time in the field, while also collaborating with CET’s Technical and Operations teams.
  • Drivers’ license, a good driving record, access to a reliable, insured vehicle, and ability to drive extensively throughout New Haven and Fairfield Counties in CT.
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office and modeling software preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.


This position performs site visits in-person in New Haven and Fairfield counties in CT, and will need to travel throughout these regions daily.

Compensation and Benefits:


At CET, we are committed to transparency and equity in our compensation practices. The compensation range in the job posting reflects the range of pay available for this role. Individual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. 


CET offers excellent benefits including vacation, holiday, and personal/sick time; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; and a retirement plan with a company match. This is a full-time salaried, exempt, remote position with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday.

 

Mileage Reimbursement: CET pays mileage at the prevailing IRS mileage rate.

 

Vehicle Stipend: CET provides a $350/month vehicle stipend while actively working on the Connecticut Weatherization Assistance Program.


Home Office Stipend: CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses.
