About the Job: 

Peak Energy is looking for a Cell Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll drive the launch, scaling, and optimization of our battery cell production. Work hands-on and cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure we lead in efficiency, quality, and scalability. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Equipment Procurement & Ramp: Lead the full equipment lifecycle, from procurement to production handoff. 
  • Factory Planning: Optimize equipment layout and define facility requirements for scalability. 
  • Next-Generation Development: Contribute to make vs. buy decisions for future equipment and advance the next era of cell manufacturing. 
  • Process Optimization: Develop, evaluate, and refine processes to boost efficiency, throughput, and yield while cutting costs. 
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and utilize in-line statistical process control (SPC) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FEMA) to proactive quality management and risk mitigation. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes continually. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Cell R&D, Automation, Factory, Quality, and Operations teams to establish a brownfield battery cell facility. 
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion safety and compliance standards. 
  • Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for manufacturing processes and equipment. Organize and standardize information to ensure easy accessibility and effective knowledge sharing across teams. Report on key process metrics to key stakeholders. 
  • Modeling: Leverage CAD software (AutoCAD, NX) for designing and optimizing equipment layouts and tooling. Employ process simulation tools to model, analyze, and refine production workflows, maximizing efficiency and scalability. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors or Masters, in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing, ideally within battery, electronics, or automotive sectors. 
  • Expertise in equipment specification, procurement, commissioning, and ramping; experience in automated assembly techniques; familiarity with MES and SCADA systems. 
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and motivated to capitalize on previous learnings. Able to thrive in a dynamic environment and drive results collaboratively. 
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%. 
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in roll-to-roll electrode, cell assembly, electrolyte filling, and/or formation. 
  • Proven experience in equipment specification and supplier engagements, particularly for capital expenditure projects.
