Role Purpose
The Renewable Systems and Technology team is responsible for developing and managing cutting-edge market intelligence solutions, delivered through our comprehensive suite of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, including price benchmarking, cost escalation, forecasting, renewable asset cost estimating, commodity exposure, supply chain risks, carbon (GHG) emissions, and much more. Our clients primarily leverage these insights for strategic planning, investment decision making, cost reduction, and risk management in the energy industry.
We are seeking a talented and versatile Renewable cost analyst to support the development, expansion, and enhancement of Wood Mackenzie’s Renewable Asset Cost Modelling (RACM) Solution Suite. The renewable cost analyst will be the owner of renewable system pricing analysis for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This role combines technical expertise, analytical thinking, and data analysis skills to drive innovation and deliver value to our clients in the renewable sector.
Main Responsibilities
Collect, clean, and analyse diverse datasets to build, refine, and expand renewable data within the RACM product line.
Contribute to market analysis on renewable system costs and technology trends for the APAC region.
Develop and implement efficient data pipelines and workflows to optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes.
Strengthen the data apparatus through surveys and interviews with stakeholders in the renewable industry, and secondary research. Refresh the analytical models with updated data on a regular basis.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and research teams to advance the functionality, scalability, and innovation of the RACM product line, driving the delivery of new features and capabilities.
Respond to client inquiries, providing customized solutions, and demonstrating RACM’s value throughout pre- and post-sales interactions.
Perform rigorous quality assurance testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of new features prior to release.
Support the production of renewable cost insights and research pieces for the APAC region.
Work with researchers across the globe to integrate the Capex and Opex insights from RACM into our Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) insights.
Dive deeply into the cost drivers influencing Capex and Opex costs for renewable assets, focused heavily on solar costs in APAC. For example, how are new tariffs going to impact solar module pricing in this region?
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
Strong expertise in data collection, cleansing, and analysis, with a proven ability to build and enhance data-driven products.
Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
Proactive problem solver with excellent organizational and critical-thinking abilities.
Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.
Experience in designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL workflows is a plus.
Have a good understanding of renewable systems and major cost components. Genuine interest in and knowledge of the renewable industry and energy transition.
