About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about partner outreach, building relationships, and spreading the word to advance clean energy goals? As a Marketing & Communications Specialist in this Climate Corps Fellowship, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to impactful clean energy initiatives with Optony Inc. This is a fully remote position for those residing in Arizona or California. 

In this role, you’ll collaborate with the U.S. DOE Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) team on a variety of marketing and communications initiatives. Your work will involve engaging with end-users, stakeholders, and partners through targeted outreach, writing reports and technical case studies that drive energy solutions forward, managing communications, coordinating schedules with external clients, and representing Optony and the team at conferences as a table or booth host. The role may also include opportunities to travel to locations such as Arizona, Nevada, California, or Hawaii.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead impactful clean energy projects, explore cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to a wide range of clean energy initiatives. You'll collaborate with both public and private sector partners, conduct studies across diverse industries and facility types, and work alongside motivated individuals and research teams from across the nation.

What You’ll Do

  • Play an integral role in the US Department of Energy Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) program team at Optony

  • Identify and outreach to end-users/stakeholders/partners

  • Manage meeting schedules; manage communications with external clients, stakeholders, industry partners, and program participants

  • Curate email marketing distribution lists

  • Accountable for the timely release of monthly newsletter releases 

  • Monthly/quarterly newsletters

  • Managing existing and new social media (i.e. LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)

  • Assist in the coordination of conferences/webinars/events

  • Attend conferences as table or booth host (this includes travel within the US, primarily AZ, NV, CA, HI)

  • Create new case study writeups; review website content for out-of-date information and make updates to project descriptions

What We’re Looking For

  • A college degree is preferred but not required.

  • Coursework or related experience in environmental fields (e.g., internships, volunteer work) is preferred.

  • Coursework or experience in marketing, communications, or creative writing is preferred.

  • Some experience with graphic and/or web design is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

  • Strong technical skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.

  • Experience with analysis.

  • Proficiency in digital marketing is a plus.

  • A demonstrated commitment to addressing racism and advancing racial equity, both within team dynamics and programmatically.

  • Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the fellowship (SEI is unable to sponsor visas).

  • May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds in all directions.
