Roles and Responsibilities 

We are seeking a full time Network Engineer to join our team.  They will be responsible for the design, review of architecture and the prototyping and test of high speed data networks that are meant to be installed in subsea environments in order to help monitor data from aquaculture farms around the globe.  

The Network Engineer will report to the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for contributing to the team as a designer, independent reviewer, lead the test of the networks created and deployed, perform a full verification of the communications protocol.   The job also involves working with the software teams to help implement the remote support tools into the software suites that accompany the product. 

As a Network Engineer, applicants must have strong background in gigabit ethernet, wifi and Bluetooth communications in order to specify the right hardware to accomplish seamless data transmission.  The network is connected to both IOT sensors and IP Protocol vision systems.  Candidate must be able to advance the work when faced with external and internal barriers as they are identified by risk management activities. 

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, implement, and maintain Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure for edge applications

·       Deploy and manage networks serving remote locations, including subsea Ethernet networks with cellular and cloud-based communications to shore

·       Design subsea Ethernet networks for various high-speed data applications, including video streaming

·       Interface certain networks to PLC based control systems

·       Ensure robust video streaming capabilities with a focus on security through network architecture

·       Specify wireless communication solutions for remote locations over 5 miles from shore or to the nearest cell tower or Wi-Fi access point

·       Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other systems and applications

·       Document network configurations, processes, and procedures

·       Some travel is required, including international client sites

 

What We’re Looking For

·       Minimum of three years of proven experience in Gigabit communications and Ethernet infrastructure for edge applications

·       Expertise in video streaming technologies and network security( including cybersecurity and firewalls)

·       Experience in deploying and managing networks in remote and challenging environments

·       Strong understanding of cellular/cloud-based communications

·       Knowledge of wireless communication technologies, including long-range solutions

·       Experience with network monitoring and management tools

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

·       Strong communication and teamwork abilities

·       Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
