Role Overview
This hybrid role will assist in the monthly close of TPICAP Americas legal entities. The firm operates predominately as an Interdealer Broker and is regulated by regulators in each jurisdiction. The Financial Reporting team is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely closing of all Americas legal entities in the US, Canada and South America. Scope of role covers approximately 35 active entities (15 significant), 180 trading desks and 110 support departments. A critical aspect of this role is to continually identify opportunities for improving work processes and driving efficiency in all tasks performed by the Financial Reporting Team.
Role Responsibilities
• Accounts of all America entities are closed in a timely manner, in accordance with TPICAP accounting close deadline.
• Accounts are prepared in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS and internal guidelines, good judgement are made with respect to accounting estimates.
• Ensure proper controls are in place with respect to recognition of revenue and costs
• Prepares and maintains monthly journal entries in the general ledger including intercompany, fixed assets, cash, FX gain & losses, prepaid and accrued expenses, deferred and accrued income
• Analyse and reconcile general ledger account balances against supporting documentation.
• Analyse trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred for review by supervisor along with supporting documentation.
• Compiles monthly reports for various clients within finance and outside finance.
• Liaise with accounting staff from various offices within US, Asia and EMEA on intercompany activity.
• Coordinate with compensation team to ensure revenue and costs are correct by broker and desk.
• Assists management in the preparation and compilation of special projects
• Ability to assist management in support of the MID / Business Partners and FP&A team.
• Assist in monthly and year to date commentary to the FP&A and Business Partner on performance against prior year for the full P&L for each line of business.
• Intercompany balances are confirmed and reconciled within the region and across the global group of companies.
Experience / Competences
Essential
• Financial Reporting Expertise: Strong experience in preparing financial statements and ensuring timely month-end close for multiple legal entities, adhering to US GAAP and IFRS standards.
• General Ledger Management: Proficient in managing and reconciling general ledger accounts, including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, FX gains/losses, and accrued expenses/income.
• Accounting & Finance Knowledge: Deep understanding of financial accounting principles, cost recognition, and revenue recognition.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze trends, revenues, costs, financial commitments, and variances, with the ability to provide insightful commentary.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Experience working across different teams and jurisdictions, especially liaising with global finance teams (US, EMEA, Asia) and business partners.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in ensuring proper documentation and supporting records for financial reporting and reconciliations.
Desired
• Experience with an interdealer broker or related financial services industry experience: Familiarity with the operations and financial structures within financial markets or trading environments is a plus.
• Accounting Software Proficiency: Experience using financial systems and software such as SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms for financial reporting and reconciliation.
• International Accounting Standards: Knowledge of international accounting principles and the ability to reconcile and report across multiple regions (US, Canada, South America).
• Project Management Skills: Ability to assist in the management of special projects and coordinate efforts across various departments and regions.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide monthly financial reports and commentary, and to collaborate with various business and finance teams.
• FP&A Experience: Experience working with Financial Planning and Analysis teams to support performance tracking and reporting against budget and prior year results.
