QVEX Technical Co-Captain
The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.
Job Description
The Technical co-captain is responsible for supervising all technical activities of the team. This includes the mechanical side of the robots, the software, as well as the electrical side. They are also responsible for all parts, tools and spaces used by the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate all technical meetings with subsystem directors
- Be responsible for the physical parts, tools, equipment, and other Team assets.
- Be responsible for all spaces which the team controls or uses for technical projects.
- Oversee the management of all technical projects.
- Forcast possible issues & risk report
- Ensuring that development deadlines are met
The Technical Co-Captain can expect to gain skills in the areas of:
- Project Management
- High-level decision making & Risk Analysis
- Allocating resources
- Teaching & Mentorship
Time commitment ranges from 7-30 hours a week
