Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close support, and audit preparation. The Staff Accountant must be a critical thinker and problem solver with strong technical accounting skills and a clear understanding of how the balance sheet and income statement interact.</p></div><br><br><h3>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</h3><ul><div><li>Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.</li><li>Perform balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and international subsidiaries, researching and resolving variances and understanding their impact on the income statement.</li><li>Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, donor invoicing, cash application, and collections follow-up.</li><li>Record and reconcile international subsidiary activity, including multi-currency transactions and intercompany balances.</li><li>Record inventory and manufacturing transactions, and maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation.</li><li>Prepare schedules, account analyses, and supporting documentation for the year-end audit, tax filings, and management reporting.</li><li>Identify issues and recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls; document procedures.</li></div></ul><h3>Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:</h3><ul><div><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA candidate a plus.</li><li>2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting, nonprofit, manufacturing, or international settings.</li><li>Strong technical accounting foundation, including solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and double-entry accounting.</li><li>Clear understanding of how the balance sheet and income statement interact, and how individual transactions flow through the financial statements.</li><li>Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.</li><li>Critical thinker and problem solver who can research discrepancies, identify root causes, and propose practical solutions.</li><li>Proficiency in accounting software (Xero experience a plus) and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.</li><li>Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency accounting is a plus.</li><li>Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, including donor or grant reporting and restricted/unrestricted funds, is a plus.</li><li>Experience supporting external audits or preparing audit schedules is a plus.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines.</li><li>Sound judgment and willingness to ask questions and escalate issues appropriately.</li><li>Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and collaborating across time zones.</li><li>Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with global teams, vendors, and donors.</li><li>Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools is a plus.</li><li>Bilingual is a plus, particularly in Spanish, French, or Swahili.</li><li>Passion for mission-driven work and a strong commitment to GivePower’s goals.</li></div></ul><br><div>Compensation: $28.84 -33.63/hour DOE</div><div> </div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:15px;">Additional Information Regarding Job Duties and Job Descriptions:</b></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:15px;">Job duties include additional responsibilities as assigned by one's supervisor or other managers related to the position/department.
